Hummingbird Hawk Moth

More pictures of Hebdens rare visitor, although this one is again feeding on flowers in sunny Majorca.

Brief Summary

Picture is of a Hummingbird Hawk Moth taken in Majorca, see below for news of a more local sighting.

A quick run down of whats been happening both locally and abroad, not had a great deal of time to get out and about however since August I've had encounters with a lone Badger locally, a tortoise in Spain and of course migration has begun, with flocks of Fieldfares and Redwings with a single Redwing dropping into the garden one morning.

Another addition to the garden list has been a female Reed Bunting, only seen once so far. And a mouse was seen on several occasssions feeding under the bird table although this hasn't been seen for a few weeks now.

The big sighting since last was the appearence of a Hummingbird Hawk Moth in the middle of Hebden Bridge. This species is a continental moth although numbers occuring in the Uk have increased in recent years and this year has apprently been a very fruitful one within Calderdale.

LONG TIME GONE

Apologies to you all for the lack of updates on my site, I shall over the next few days do a complete update of what I've been upto, photographing and what I'm looking forward to seeing over the coming winter months.
